Electronic logs revolutionise Noble's record-keeping practices

Noble Corp has changed its record-keeping practices across its fleet of offshore drilling rigs and drillships by adopting electronic logbooks. These secure digital logs replaced paper logbooks, improving regulatory compliance and management of its offshore assets, reducing manual data administration by crew on drilling rigs and improving accuracy.

ABS Wavesight has supplied its eLogs to Noble for deployment on drillships, semi-submersibles and jack-up rigs operating worldwide.

“We adopted ABS Wavesight eLogs to help us further digitalise record keeping on our assets,” said Noble supervisor for marine compliance and inspection, Ben Sherwood. “This has been a welcomed change from the crews offshore with an increase in efficiency and accuracy,” he added. “We are estimating a possible reduction in error rate of 46% in just a single logbook using this platform.”

In addition to Noble’s adoption, ABS Wavesight eLogs has recently received flag-state recognition from Brazil. ABS Wavesight said it is working closely with regulatory authorities to support the adoption of high standards of performance and safety in the industry.
