Zakher Marine International (ZMI), an offshore services provider and owner and operator of a fleet of jack-up barges and offshore supply vessels, has been awarded a contract in the Chinese offshore wind sector
The contract in the South China Sea is valued at US$110M and is first time a UAE-based and Gulf Cooperation Council offshore contractor has been awarded a contract to support the development of an offshore windfarm in China.
ZMI managing director Ali El Ali said, “We are very proud to be the first company from the Gulf Cooperation Council region to work with the Chinese Government to provide jack-ups.
“The contract demonstrates that we are on track to deliver our growth plans, expanding into new geographies and the renewables business.”
The contract is for QMS Gladiator, one of three sister vessels owned by the group.
The jack-up departed Abu Dhabi for the South China Sea on a heavy-lift vessel in February, and arrived in China on 10 March 2021.
