Mooring, survey and towage support specialist First Marine Solutions (FMS) has contracted Hexagon to supply Veripos offshore positioning solutions
The Aberdeen, UK-headquartered company has made this investment to strengthen its new survey department with high-precision positioning equipment and services, selecting Veripos as its key supplier of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning and correction services.
It has purchased high-precision LD8 GNSS receivers, Quantum software and a subscription to Veripos’ precise-point position correction services, enabling FMS to offer decimetre-level accuracy for offshore hydrographic survey, positioning and construction operations.
Veripos delivers positioning through GNSS receivers, antennas and GNSS+INS inertial navigation technology, with redundancy in corrections from Veripos’ own 80-station reference network.
These technologies and services provide a complete positioning solution supporting offshore construction, mooring, hydrographic survey and other offshore energy applications.
“Our investment with Veripos positioning products and services bolsters FMS’ inhouse offerings,” said FMS survey and positioning manager Carl Lafferty. “These GNSS positioning receivers and correction services firmly establishes FMS as a leading turnkey supplier in the offshore energy market.”
FMS has extended its positioning solutions into offshore survey projects, with temporary and permanent mooring solutions for floating offshore units to support the emerging renewables and existing oil and gas markets.
