Ex-Seacor Marine executive Joshua Politis has joined international transportation investment management and advisory firm Transport Capital as partner and head of offshore at its Singapore office.
Mr Politis was formerly director and general manager, Asia Pacific at publicly traded Seacor Marine where, in addition to managing its operations, he led US$300M Asian-based M&A, restructuring and investment opportunities. Over the course of his career, he has developed an extensive international, senior level network of support vessel, drilling, production and construction asset operators, lenders, investors, advisors, shipbrokers and shipyards.
Transport Capital managing partner Philip Clausius said Mr Politis “offers a unique combination of deep operational and very relevant transactional experience. We believe that the offshore industry is generally through the worst of the downcycle; hence we find the timing of this expansion to be very promising.”
Mr Politis said he would work with his colleagues at Transport Capital “on developing creative solutions to address the challenges in the offshore industry. By utilising my industry experience and combining it with the group’s ability to structure transactions, we can grow Transport Capital’s business into new directions.”
Earlier in the month, Transport Capital strengthened its Hamburg office with the addition of Oliver Faak as partner and co-head Europe. Mr Faak was formerly the global head of shipping and aircraft finance at German lender NordLB, where he was responsible for a loan portfolio of more than €10Bn (US$11Bn).
“This will now be the third time in my career that I will be working with Oliver,” said partner and co-head Europe Henrik Haeder. “We are absolutely convinced that Hamburg is a perfect base for a transportation focused advisory and investment management firm with strong ties to Asia. Now strengthening our forces is a clear commitment to expand our footprint.”
Founded in Singapore in 2013, Transport Capital also has offices in Hamburg and Athens.
