Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been awarded a conditional contract for the turbines for the 376 MW Formosa 2 offshore windfarm in Taiwan.
The contract was awarded by a consortium comprising Macquarie Capital and Swancor Renewable Energy Company. A firm contract is subject to the consortium’s final investment decision. The contract also includes 20-year service agreement.
The project is offshore Miaoli county and will utilize Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy’s SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbine.
The company will supply a total of 47 turbines and will be responsible for servicing the turbines for 20 years, including the provision of spare parts and tools to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of the windfarm.
Offshore construction is due to begin in 2020. Formosa 2 will be located close to the site of the Formosa 1 offshore windfarm, which will use 22 Siemens Gamesa turbines. Installation of Phase 2 of Formosa 1 is due to be completed later this year.
