German shipping group Candler Schiffahrt has selected Marlink subsidiary Telemar to service and repair its bridge systems for five years
The five-year service maintenance deal covers bulk carriers and multi-purpose vessels. Under this agreement, Telemar will service bridge electronics from its new Bremerhaven branch office and use Telemar World Service (TWS), a web-based tool for managing service due dates across the Candler fleet.
Candler has outsourced bridge electronics maintenance to maintain operational safety while reducing time and costs on the eight geared bulk carriers and multi-purpose vessels it manages.
Candler managing director Johann Wadephul said this agreement builds on 25 years of working with Telemar. “As a Marlink connectivity customer, there is good synergy in this area of our operations,” he said.
“We appreciate being able to work with local suppliers that can support us with a professional approach to our fleet and provide tools that increase transparency and improve planning and reporting,” said Mr Wadephul.
Telemar and Candler’s five-year contract includes annual radio surveys, radar inspections, performance tests for voyage data recorders and overhauling gyro compasses.
It also includes a five-year exchange of compass gyro spheres and multiple safety services, including Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems on ship bridges.
Telemar will also provide remote service co-ordination and access to a service hotline.
TWS automatically sends reminders to fleet managers and service co-ordinators advising on the need for system service or replacement. Candler has access to the platform and can observe service status, reports and installation history in a single system.
