Almi Tankers believes it is one of the first Greek tanker companies to be awarded ISO 27001 certification for its information security management system (ISMS), which demonstrates the company has reached the high quality demanded from this internationally recognised standard
The ISMS ISO 27001 Information Security Management System certificate was presented by Lloyd’s Register (LR) marketing director Philippa Charlton to Almi Tanker’s chief executive Captain Stylianos Dimouleas at a ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Athens.
LR’s award of ISO 27001 to Almi Tankers also celebrates a decade of quality environmental health and safety management for the Greek tanker company that also holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certificates with the latter achieved following a recent successful migration from OHSAS 18001.
In April 2018, Almi Tankers was also the first company to take delivery of a scrubber-equipped VLCC newbuilding. The company prides itself that the certifications are evidence of its commitment to safe, high quality, reliable and cost-effective services to oil businesses and traders – and to continually identifying, managing and minimising health and safety risks associated with its activities.
Capt Dimouleas commented “We are all affected by ISO 27001 requirements on a daily basis. We took a major step to ensure that a robust information management system and cyber security system are in place and in line with EU GDPR directives.”
Ms Charlton said “ISO 27001 is a certification of best practice for ISMS. An organisation that is certified has been through a rigorous independent audit process and demonstrated its ability to meet the stringent requirements of this standard. We are delighted for Almi Tankers.”
