Vyron Vasileiadis-led Venergy Maritime, a newcomer to the Greek tanker scene, continues its rapid expansion, adding both newbuildings and modern secondhand tonnage to its fleet
Shipbroking and market sources have now linked the Greek owner to a letter of intent with China’s New Times Shipbuilding for the construction of two 115,000-dwt Aframax tankers, with delivery scheduled for 2029. Venergy Maritime has been approached for comment.
Greek shipbrokers estimate the construction cost at around US$69M per vessel.
Founded in 2021, Venergy Maritime has only recently begun taking delivery of its first ships, focusing exclusively on the MR tanker segment. The company has reportedly invested more than US$300M in fleet acquisitions. It currently operates three tankers and has a newbuilding programme for four additional vessels at South Korea’s K Shipbuilding, slated for delivery through 2027.
The most recent fleet addition is 2020-built Odyssean, formerly known as STI Maestro. Shipbrokers reported earlier this year that the vessel changed hands for approximately US$42M.
During the vessel’s delivery, Mr Vasileiadis highlighted Venergy Maritime’s commitment to modern, high-quality vessels that combine operational performance with environmental responsibility – a strategy he said provides a competitive advantage while strengthening the company’s revenue base.
Venergy Maritime operates under the umbrella of the Vasileiadis Group of Companies (V Group), which maintains a diversified presence across port reception facilities, waste management, alternative fuel production, renewable energy and technology sectors in Greece and internationally.
