A contract to build the topside for the 700-MW high voltage alternating current offshore platform for the Hollandse Kust Zuid Alpha offshore windfarm has been awarded to a contractor based in the Middle East, this being the first time a company in the region has built such a unit
United Arab Emirates-based Drydocks World, best known for building platforms for the offshore oil and gas industry, has been awarded a contract to build the topside for the HVAC transformer station. The contract was awarded by transmission system operator TenneT.
The HVAC platform will be a key part of the grid connection system for the Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore windfarm in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. The approximately 3,500-tonne topside is due to be completed in 2021.
Drydocks World’s scope of work includes production engineering, construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning assistance, load-out, sea fastening and engineering, procurement, and construction commissioning for the topside.
