DEME Offshore has been awarded a contract to transport and install the foundations and wind turbines at Ørsted’s Hornsea Two offshore windfarm in the UK.
The windfarm is adjacent to the northern and western edge of the Hornsea One windfarm, where DEME Offshore was also made responsible for the foundations, turbines and export cable work.
The company will also carry out scour protection for Hornsea Two.
The monopiles and transition pieces will be installed by the company’s new DP3 offshore installation vessel Orion, which is due to enter service by the end of 2019. A total of 165 foundations will be installed.
Turbine installation will be carried out using the installation vessels Sea Challenger and Sea Installer. Installation should be completed in early 2022.
The total value of the contract exceeds €200M (US$224M).
