Höegh Autoliners is deploying Kongsberg Digital’s Vessel Insight and MAN’s PrimeServ Assist on four more vehicle carriers after a successful trial on two vessels
Vessel Insight is a cost-efficient data infrastructure and PrimeServ Assist is a digital solution for optimising engine use and maintenance.
“Our purpose is to provide greener and more sustainable deepsea transportation and we are working closely with suppliers to achieve this,” said Höegh Autoliners chief executive Andreas Enger. “The collaboration with MAN Energy Solutions and Kongsberg Digital has accelerated the digitalisation of our vessel’s operations and is an important step in improving our operational efficiency,” he said.
A pilot project using these solutions has been conducted on Horizon-class vessels Höegh Trotter and Höegh Traveller since mid-2020. “Building on the success of the pilot project, we are pleased to continue the partnership with the addition of four vessels in our fleet,” said Mr Enger.
Höegh can access contextualised high-quality data from its vessels to begin benchmarking its fleet and reduce maintenance costs.
Kongsberg Digital executive vice president for digital ocean Andreas Jagtøyen said Höegh will use vessel performance information to optimise its operations.
“The joint digital infrastructure allows the operator to monitor vessel assets and check the running conditions of the engines remotely from shore, to support ship’s crew,” said Mr Jagtøyen. “Our Vessel Performance application from the Kognifai Marketplace gives Höegh tools for reducing fuel consumption and unnecessary running of equipment, as well as benchmarking performance between vessels.”
Vessel Insight can be installed by crew on these vehicle carriers, with all data sent to the Kognifai cloud and contextualised. This information is used by MAN PrimeServ Assist to optimise engine performance.
“Digitalisation allows our customers to fully leverage MAN’s expertise on engines and on maritime customer needs,” said MAN Energy Solutions digital business lead for two-stroke engines Stig Holm.
