Huisman in the Netherlands has signed a contract with PaxOcean Engineering to deliver a 1,600-tonne leg encircling crane for Penta-Ocean Construction’s new offshore wind installation vessel
Using the Huisman crane, the new vessel will be able to install 12-MW offshore wind turbines and a range of foundations, including monopiles.
The new vessel is being built by PaxOcean Engineering in Batam, Indonesia. The crane will be built at Huisman’s production facility in Xiamen, China. The vessel is due to be delivered in 2022.
Huisman has a track record of supplying cranes to Penta Ocean, having supplied an 800-tonne crane for Penta-Ocean’s CP8001 in 2018. The 1,600-tonne crane will be the third unit for a turbine installation vessel the Dutch company has delivered to Japan.
The design of the crane will be certified by Japanese certification society ClassNK.
