Iberdrola and Polish energy company Enea have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on the potential development of offshore windfarms in the Polish sector of the Baltic
A statement from Enea said the companies are addressing the development of offshore windfarms with a capacity of up to 3.3 GW. Iberdrola has yet to comment on the agreement.
Enea said the move is part of its group development strategy, a key plank of which is transforming its generating assets and adopting renewables.
As part of its development strategy, Enea wants to generate 22% of its electricity from renewables by 2025 and 33% by 2030.
Enea said it has assumed a minority share in investment projects implemented with Iberdrola but its level of involvement and scope of co-operation with the company will be determined at a later stage.
Enea is one of the largest energy companies in Poland and produces electricity, transmits it and sells it to homes and businesses in the country.
