Iberdrola has signed a contract with Van Oord that will see the offshore installation company transport and install the monopile foundations and inter-array cables for the 476-MW Baltic Eagle offshore windfarm
To install the 50 foundations for the windfarm, Van Oord will deploy its heavy-lift installation vessel Svanen, which thus far has installed more than 700 foundations across Europe, including the vast majority of monopiles in the Baltic.
Offshore work for the Baltic Eagle project will start in 2023. Van Oord’s cable laying vessel Nexus and trencher ‘Dig-It’ will be deployed for the inter-array cable laying.
Due to challenging nature of the seabed in area of the windfarm the Baltic Sea, the trencher will be customised prior to commencing work.
The offshore windfarm is due to be operatinal in 2024.
