Jan De Nul Group has signed a contract with Vattenfall Vindkraft Kriegers Flak P/S to transport and install 72 8.4-MW Siemens Gamesa turbines for the Kriegers Flak offshore windfarm in Denmark
Kriegers Flak is in the Baltic in water depths varying between 15 m and 30 m, 15 km from shore.
In 2017-18, Jan De Nul Group built, towed and installed two large gravity-based foundations for the offshore high voltage substations for the windfarm.
Installation work under the new contract will start in Q1 2021 and will take four months.
Developer Vattenfall took a final investment decision for the Kriegers Flak offshore windfarm in late 2018.
At the time of award in 2016, Kriegers Flak came in at the lowest bid price ever for offshore wind.
Kriegers Flak is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2021.
