Intellian Technologies has introduced its smallest VSAT antenna built to date for vessels with limited space for communications equipment
The South Korean-headquartered manufacturer unveiled its v45C antenna for workboats, tugs, passenger vessels, leisure craft, fishing boats, small commercial and government vessels.
Intellian chief executive Eric Sung said these are new markets for the high-bandwidth satellite communications VSAT can provide. “The v45C antenna will deliver compact, cost-effective connectivity to multiple customer segments, especially those which have been unable to install VSAT in the past owing to space considerations or performance constraints,” Mr Sung said.
“We expect the v45C to open up new markets. We look forward to collaborating with new customers to help them make the most of the many advantages VSAT connectivity with Intellian products has to offer.”
This smaller antenna has a 45-cm diameter and enables Ku-band satellite communications. It has a single cable for power and data transfer and browser-based AptusNX antenna management and diagnostics software.
Its introduction follows Intellian’s launch of the v60E VSAT with a 60-cm diameter antenna. These both were developed for Intellian’s NX Series antennas.
Smaller antennas are now possible due to new high-throughput satellite constellations by multiple network operators.
Satellite communications and VSAT technologies will be discussed during Riviera’s series of virtual conferences and webinars during 2021, including Vessel Optimisation Webinar Week - use this link to access more details and register for these events
