Penta-Ocean Construction, Kajima Corporation and Yorigami Maritime Construction have agreed to jointly construct a multipurpose self-elevating platform (SEP/jack-up) with a 1,600-tonne lifting capacity crane for the installation of foundations and offshore wind turbines in the 10-12-MW class.
The three companies will jointly establish and operate a holding company as a subsidiary of Penta-Ocean Construction.
Basic design will be undertaken by GustoMSC in the Netherlands. PaxOcean Engineering (Singapore), which is owned by the Kuok family, the largest international conglomerate group in Malaysia, will be responsible for building the vessel. The main crane will be supplied by Huisman in the Netherlands.
The vessel is due to be delivered in September 2022 and will be operational in March 2023.
GustoMSC is also the designer of a new jack-up installation vessel for Japanese construction conglomerate Shimizu Corporation, which placed a contract for GustoMSC SC-14000XL jack-up with an integrated crane at Japan Marine United in August 2019. That unit will also be capable of installing wind turbines up to 12 MW.
