Diversifying class society DNV GL and systems provider Kongsberg have agreed to combine their platforms with the ’ambition to bring about digitalisation of the maritime industry’
Announcing their platform integration plans at Nor-shipping, DNV GL and Kongsberg recognised that there are a lot of businesses vying for a place in the maritime industy’s transition to digitalised operations, but they think that a combination of their digital platforms and services will add value in a way others cannot.
“Kongsberg’s Kognifai and DNV GL’s Veracity will, combined, give customers access to platform capabilities and an ecosystem of value enhancing services. This partnership will significantly enhance our customers’ opportunities for digitalisation. Together we have 350 years of experience, we have deep domain knowledge, and with this partnership we will enhance customer value,” sayid Kongsberg chief executive and president Geir Håøy.
The companies say their two platforms are ’complimentary’ and that integrating them will create a system that is, in essence, more than a sum of its parts.
Norwegian industrial/military systems and technolgy provider Kongsberg’s reach includes space, terrestrial and maritime technologies within its vast portfolio. Norway-headquartered DNV GL has freed itself from the restrictions of the traditional services of a class society over recent years and is moving to become a complete service solutions provider.
