Singapore-headquartered Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO) has secured long-term charters for 14 of its crew boats with a leading exploration and production company in Thailand
MEO said the charter is for three years (1,095 days), starting from May 2020. The crew boats will support oil and gas production activity via inter-field transfer of personnel and cargo, evacuation and emergency response operations.
MEO said the fleet will service a significant number of platforms that form part of multiple oil and gas production fields within the Gulf of Thailand, operating on a very economic fuel consumption model to minimise operating costs for the charterer.
The project was contracted through Uniwise Offshore Ltd, a joint venture between MEO and its local shipyard and logistics partner Unithai Group. Established in 1999, the joint venture manages over 25 vessels in Thailand.
For the long-term charter operation in Thailand, the management of these crew boats is being carried out from the shore support bases in Songkhla and Sattahip. Uniwise Offshore Ltd has served this client with a good track record for 20 years, said MEO.
The Songkhla base houses the main technical centre of excellence, with an engine maintenance facility for high crew boat uptime, a large warehouse for critical spares and a training centre with back deck training, and vessel simulator, through which all crews must pass. The training centre plays a key part in the company strategy to develop, train and retain competent Thai crew.
