Maritime membrane nitrogen systems first to be class-approved for cyber security

Air Products Membrane Solutions is the first company to obtain cyber-security certification for maritime nitrogen systems under the International Association of Classification Societies’ (IACS) Unified Requirements E26 and E27.

IACS Unified Requirements (UR) E26 and E27 establish minimum cyber-security standards for new vessels by focusing on UR E26 for the ship as a whole and UR E27 for individual onboard systems and equipment.

A 2024/2025 cyber-security report by DNV Cyber stated that 31% of maritime professionals reported experiencing at least one cyber attack in the 12 months leading up to October 2024, a significant increase from 17% five years earlier.
