Med Marine launches two harbour, firefighting tugboats

Med Marine has launched two newbuild tugboats at the shipyard in Eregli, Turkey, to expand its fleet of harbour and firefighting tugs.

The Turkish shipowner and builder constructed these 25.4-m tugs, with newbuilding numbers ER 175 and ER176, to Robert Allan Ltd’s RAmparts 2500-W design, and a minimum of 80 tonnes of bollard pull at its facilities on the Black Sea coast.

Both vessels were launched into the water at the end of April and will be commissioned ready to begin operations in Turkish ports.

They have a beam of 12.4 m, a depth of 4.6 m, accommodation for eight crew members, a top speed of 12 knots and a FiFi-class firefighting system.

Med Marine said these tugs would be prepared for ship manoeuvring, pushing, towing and mooring in demanding operational conditions.

“They are ready to ensure maximum operational efficiency with comfortable accommodation spaces and robust structures built to withstand challenging weather conditions,” said Med Marine.
