European ferry operator Molslinjen has started using new fleet management hosting services from Logimatic
European ferry operator Molslinjen has started using new fleet management hosting services from Logimatic. The operator of ferries in Denmark has stopped using its own servers and started using the cloud service that uses Sertica software solutions.
Molslinjen marine engineer Jan Hauberg Jørgensen said there was no need to have large servers at its offices if information can be kept on a cloud-based hosted solution. “All of our IT is hosted,” he said.
“We were, therefore, looking for a hosted fleet management solution so that we only need to be in contact with the supplier and not the hosting company. In other words, a more simple solution for us.”
Logimatic extended its services for Sertica software with hosting services because more vessel operators are choosing to use cloud computing instead of maintaining expensive servers. Its IT experts can install the system and configure it to ensure Sertica is operating correctly.
Logimatic head of sales Hans Jensen said there is a growing trend of ship operators outsourcing IT requirements to cloud-based solutions because of the simplicity and so they do not need to upgrade software.
“Our customers prefer a simple system solving as many problems as possible. The fact that we offer hosting is very much in line with the demand and trends we see in today’s market,” he said, adding that shipping companies have access to their data in real-time whenever they need it.
In September, Logimatic said it had partnered with Eiger Marine to offer Sertica fleet management solutions to maritime customers in Greece and Cyprus. Sertica provides shipowners with software for managing for maintenance, performance, HSQE and procurement.
