N-Sea, GeoForce unveil shallow water geotechnical solution

Beginning in Q2 2026, N-Sea and GeoForce – part of Oceanscan and the Venterra Group – will deploy a bespoke geotechnical package that will be permanently integrated onto a N-Sea vessel, targeting offshore energy and transmission projects.

The plan will provide clients with a mobilised geotechnical platform, removing uncertainty and delays often associated with vessel of opportunity.

As part of the scope, GeoForce will deliver end-to-end support through specialist geotechnical acquisition and analysis, including seabed characterisation, sediment analysis, core penetration testing and fully integrated deliverables to support ground model development.

“These insights will support route optimisation and installation design, giving clients a clearer, high-resolution understanding of subsurface conditions and derisking engineering decisions ahead of infrastructure installation,” N-Sea said.

N-Sea survey director Patrick Defilet said, “Although we have delivered shallow geotechnical services on a project specific basis, this partnership enables a major step forward.

“By adding a permanently mobilised geotechnical spread to our in-house geophysical solutions, we can provide a faster, more efficient and fully integrated platform, supporting our ambition to grow and diversify across the offshore energy sector.”
