Interorient Shipmanagement announces the appointment of Captain Maurice Baker as its new managing director
Captain Maurice Baker takes over as managing director at Interorient Shipmanagement after a long career at sea and senior shipmanagement positions ashore. His time at sea commenced after being educated at Glasgow Nautical College and sailing on a variety of ships before being appointed Master.
Shoreside, he has worked as operations manager at Columbia Shipmanagement in Cyprus. He held this post for seven years before spending another seven years as marine and operation director. In 2014 he was appointed managing director.
After 17 years with Columbia Shipmanagement he returned to Glasgow when in 2017, he joined V.Ships in Glasgow and was appointed group director shipmanagement West.
Captain Baker joined Interorient Shipmanagement in Cyprus in September 2019.
Captain Baker commented “I am honoured to be joining this renowned organisation. Its reputation for commitment to its staff and clients go before it and I look forward to contributing to this. My main focus going forward will be to make sure we achieve and maintain operational excellence for our clients. We must give them an exceptional service as without them, nothing else is possible.”
He is an ex member of the Intertanko Executive Board and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
