Thun Tankers, part of Erik Thun Group, took delivery of its fourth L-class tanker Thun Liffey at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (formerly known as Avic Dingheng) on 16 April
The 18,650-dwt L-class vessel is the fourth in a series of five tankers built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard. The L-class series has been designed and developed in house, using Erik Thun group’s experience of building similar vessels.
Thun Tankers said the focus in the design and building process was on environmental criteria, new regulations and customer needs. Like its sister ships Thun Lidkoping, Thun London and Thun Liverpool, it will enter the Gothia Tanker Alliance network with crewing and technical management carried out by MF Shipping Group.
The new delivery takes the number of live vessels in the Thun fleet to 39, including 17 tankers with six tankers on order or recently delivered. The Gothia Tanker Alliance consists of seven partners: Thun Tankers, OHM, Uni Tankers, Rederi AB Älvtank, DSD Shipping AS, Furetank and Wisby Tankers AB.
