Data analysis and risk management support services are provided from a maritime operations centre in Singapore
Shipmanagers have made a leap in digital fleet analysis with a new portfolio of online services using a remote operations centre.
OSM Maritime has introduced its OSM ON product for monitoring and supporting operations on ships and providing information to stakeholders.
OSM ON delivers data analysis to shipowners, operators and insurance companies, financial institutions and brokers.
Information from this service can help with regulatory compliance, fuel and emissions monitoring and provide other insights into ship operations.
OSM ON uses OSM’s Maritime Operations Center in Singapore, which opened in 2018, to provide real-time visibility, data analysis and risk management support services.
An initial phase of testing of OSM ON with selected clients was completed in Q2 2019, and the service will be open to others.
OSM president and chief operating officer Bjoern Sprotte said with OSM ON, the organisation has found “ways to fully unlock the value of the data we gather for the benefit of our customers”.
The Singapore operations centre has tailored a range of analytics applications and services to provide enhanced value and insights for key decision makers, he said, “OSM ON is a product of that drive”.
“Over the past six months, we have been trialling the service on ships under full technical management, and the results have exceeded our expectations, said Mr Sprotte.
“What we have is a truly effective way of monitoring and supporting operations of our crew on individual vessels.”
Its centre in Singapore provides insight into ship operations and has a response team for emergencies and unforeseen incidents.
“Moreover, we have seen the real benefits of looking at entire fleets and providing a new level of enhanced safety,” said Mr Sprotte.
“Furthermore, we can help with regulatory compliance, giving notification of special requirements when entering specific areas and, more broadly, through emission control and fuel efficiency monitoring.”
OSM manages a fleet of more than 500 vessels with 12,000 employees operating worldwide.
