Jan De Nul Group has installed all of the 8.4-MW turbines for the Kriegers Flak offshore windfarm in Denmark
Vattenfall’s Kriegers Flak is the largest offshore windfarm in Denmark and will increase the country’s energy generation from wind by 16%.
The windfarm was installed in an area with a challenging seabed with extremely heterogeneous soil conditions with large lateral variability and boulders on and below the surface.
Jan De Nul project manager Bert Reynvoet said, “Thanks to detailed geophysical and geotechnical studies and with the use of a leg penetration model developed for the jack-up used on the project, we engineered an efficient jacking procedure. This allowed us to execute the project ahead of schedule.”
