Asso Subsea has completed a boulder removal campaign for the Krieger’s Flak offshore windfarm in the Baltic in the eastern part of Denmark’s territorial waters
Asso Subsea secured a contract for the project in May 2020. The contract was awarded by Vattenfall.
The company said the project was the first for which it had been appointed as a main contractor to Vattenfall, being responsible for boulder clearance at 68 wind turbine installation locations and related surveys.
Boulder removal was executed in two campaigns. For the first, the multipurpose vessel Astrea was mobilised equipped with a chartered tine grab and Quasar remotely operated vehicle. The vessel completed its scope well ahead of schedule.
For the second campaign, one of Asso’s trenching support vessels, Aethra, was equipped with the company’s multifunction plough, AssoGrapple, a grabber and a clamshell.
All of the work was performed within the defined timeline.
