Drydocks World, part of DP World, has completed the two Calm Buoys which will be moored at the Ras Markaz Crude Oil Park Project off the coast of Oman, with a transfer capacity of 2 x 8,000 m3 per hour
The Calm Buoys were engineered for clients in the project including Bluewater Energy Services, China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co (Oman Branch) and Oman Tank Terminal Company.
The catenary anchor leg mooring Calm Buoys act as offshore floating hulls to transfer stabilised crude and refined hydrocarbon products, while tethering even the largest crude carriers to onshore terminals via up to 400-megaton hawser loads.
The Calm Buys have a capacity up to VLCC-sized tankers, and will deliver crude oil to and from the Oman Tank Terminal Company facilities, including the Duqm Refinery.
Drydocks World chief executive Capt Rado Antolovic said, “Delivering another major project outcome for our clients is testament to our continued partnership – I am proud of the trust shown in the Drydocks World team to deliver for a key partner and look forward to collaborating again on future projects.”
Drydocks World completes over 300 projects a year on average, with a record of handling 42 refurbishment projects simultaneously. The yard is spread over 200 hectares, 4 drydocks, with the largest dock capable of handling the world’s largest ship, and over 3,700m of berth space.
