Odfjell’s 25,000-dwt stainless steel chemical tanker pool attracts four vessels from Navig8 Chemical Tankers
The last seven days have been flush with good news for Odfjell SE. At the Tanker Shipping & Trade Awards in London the Norwegian public limited company won the Tanker of the Year Award with the super-segregator chemical carrier Bow Orion.
And this week the company has announced that four 25,000-dwt stainless steel chemical carriers have joined its Chempool25 pool.
The four Navig8 chemical tankers have not been named but according to VesselsValue, there are four Japanese-built 25,000-dwt stainless steel chemical carriers operated by associated company Stainless8. The vessels have been operating in the spot market:
The four vessels are expected to enter the pool during Q1 2020. The Chempool25 fleet operates as part of Odfjell’s commercial fleet of around 80 advanced chemical tankers, trading worldwide.
Following delivery of the vessels, the pool will total 19 vessels with Odfjell contributing 10 vessels. The Chemical Transport Company of the USA contributes five vessels (built 2016 and 2017 at Avic Dingheng) and Navig8 Chemical Tankers will contribute four vessels. Odfjell will continue to be the operator of all vessels in the pool.
“We are pleased to welcome Navig8 Chemical Tankers as a partner. Navig8 Chemical Tankers brings first-class vessels to the pool, and we look forward to the co-operation and to further develop our pool partnerships. With this expansion, Odfjell will operate one of the largest fleets of modern 25,000-dwt stainless steel chemical tankers in the world. This is another step in consolidating the chemical tanker industry, and it enables us to offer unparalleled flexibility and service to our customers,” said Odfjell chief executive Kristian Mørch.
