Working with its new Italian partner, Westeam Srl, Scanjet PSM has undertaken a floating dock refit project for the Fincantieri Group, one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups with 20 shipyards across Europe, the Americas and Asia
Scanjet PSM was chosen to provide the ballast level gauge system for the floating drydock in La Spezia, Italy, as it could meet the very short delivery lead times.
With a lifting power of 40,000 tonnes and with 32 ballast/double bottoms, the floating dock had been refloated after sinking last year and Fincantieri needed the damaged equipment replacing urgently.
Working closely with Westeam, Scanjet PSM supplied its Titanium APT500 sensors and termination modules for all ballast tanks on the 265-m dock within the required two weeks.
In other news, Scanjet has released its digital tank gauging system, which is described as a fully integrated package of instrumentation providing a comprehensive, simple to install, and scalable tank gauging solution for small vessels of all classes.
Its central VPM display communicates to all connected APT1000 level transmitters to obtain accurate real-time data and processes this to provide a comprehensive display of the status of all tanks.
Multiple displays can be added, and the status information can be communicated to other onboard systems, loading computers or alarm monitoring systems.
