G-tec has mobilised its vessel Omalius to the UK for a geotechnical survey on the site of the Hornsea Project Four offshore windfarm
The contract for the survey was awarded to the company by wind energy leader Ørsted.
Hornsea Four is an offshore windfarm Ørsted is proposing to develop in the North Sea, approximately 65 km off the Yorkshire coast in northeast England. The project team is exploring an offshore area of up to 600 km2.
The project is currently in the pre-application phase for a development consent order, the major consent required to allow the development of it.
The geotechnical investigations will include soil and rock sampling with a focus on chalk sampling and offshore and onshore laboratory testing.
All of the investigation work will be carried out from the dynamic positioning DP2 geotechnical drill ship.
