Abu Dhabi Ports’ maritime arm Safeen has teamed up with Allianz Marine & Logistics Services (AMLS) to launch an integrated maritime logistics service
This joint venture, Offshore Support and Logistics Services Co (OFCO), will provide domestic and international operations from the head office in Abu Dhabi.
It will operate offshore support vessels, subsea service ships, coastal towage tugs and offshore towage assets in one group.
OFCO will offer onshore and offshore integrated logistics solutions and subsea services in the Middle East Gulf region and outside the region as demand grows. It combines Safeen’s strategic position and experience as a port and marine vessel operator with AMLS’ diversified fleet and expertise in offshore logistics and supply chain management.
OFCO will provide a one-stop-shop for a spectrum of services with a fleet of support vessels and supply base operations for oil and gas infrastructure projects. This will include engineering, procurement and construction support, inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM), and subsea services supported by Abu Dhabi Ports’ land-based operations and harbour services, including Safeen’s tug fleet.
“Launching OFCO represents a significant leap forward for Safeen, which is one of the main pillars of our maritime business,” said Abu Dhabi Ports group chief executive Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi. “By adding OFCO to our extensive portfolio of trade, logistics, and port services, we are in a position to offer our regional and global customers a very comprehensive and compelling end-to-end value offer, in one place and at the same time.”
OFCO will work with other partners where required and expand Abu Dhabi’s role as the regional and global hub for offshore services.
Abu Dhabi Ports head of the maritime cluster Captain Maktoum Al Houqani said this partnership recognises existing and future opportunities in the region. “When we considered the growth of the global offshore support vessel and offshore projects markets, we saw a tremendous opportunity and potential for a new integrated marine logistics provider. With access to a growing diversified fleet of modern vessels, our partnership with AMLS will allow us to take our expertise and capabilities to new horizons, and unleash our full potential as a preferred global maritime services provider.”
AMLS general manager Ahmed Khalil said this partnership was a significant milestone. “This is positioning Abu Dhabi as a major global gateway for offshore logistics and services. We are enhancing not only our ability to support regional infrastructure projects, but are expanding our existing portfolio internationally as well,” he said.
OFCO will have one of the largest service fleets for marine services in the Middle East Gulf.
