Palfinger Marine has signed a contract with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for the delivery of 20 PF9000-2.9 cranes for the turbines in the Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore windfarm.
The 120-MW capacity windfarm will have 20 Siemens Gamesa SWT-6.0-154 direct drive offshore wind turbines. Each platform on the turbines will be equipped with a crane from the European manufacturer. Delivery of the cranes is scheduled for the end of 2018.
In 2017, the company delivered two prototype PF8000-2.6 cranes for the Formosa 1 Phase 1 pilot project, which has two Siemens Gamesa SWT-4.0-130 wind turbines.
Palfinger Marine global sales manager wind Rupert Reischl said, “Winning these contracts is an important door-opener for our future efforts in the Asian offshore wind business, where the potential is huge.”
