PSA Marine has cemented its position in Peru by acquiring a local tug owner
Tramarsa Flota, which operates tugs in Peru changed its name to PSA Marine Peru on 19 August underpinning PSA Marine’s growing ambition as a leading maritime service provider in Latin America.
PSA Marine has built up its global position in towage and maritime services from its Singapore headquarters. It acquired 100% ownership in Tramarsa Flota in February 2020 and unveiled its new brand this month.
PSA Marine said this acquisition combined deep understanding of the Peruvian maritime industry with its parent company’s global network. Through this commitment, PSA Marine Peru provides integrated marine services, including towage, pilotage, launch boats in 10 Peruvian major ports, towage along the coastline and offshore services.
PSA Marine Peru managing director Enrique Tarazona said the rebranding was “a major milestone for us”. He added “We would like to thank our key stakeholders including the maritime authority, the national port authority, port community, customers and employees for their continued support and confidence in us.”
His company employs around 600 qualified professionals, including 30 exclusive marine pilots.
PSA Marine Peru provides integrated services to container shipping lines, owners of bulk carriers and tankers, port operators and oil and gas companies.
It operates a fleet of 17 tugs, 23 launches, two diving supply vessels, two barges, one fuel storage vessel and three remotely operated vehicles for the offshore oil and gas business.
