Z-Bridge BV in the Netherlands has started the mobilisation process for sea trials of its innovative bring-to-work offshore access system
“Over the last months we have performed an extensive certification and onshore test programme,” said the company. “We would like to thank all involved for their continued support during this period, with special thanks to Constructiebedrijf Van Vugt for their assistance.”
The fully motion-compensated offshore access system will allow safe transfer of up to six people and cargo from a vessel’s deck to offshore structures. It is to be tested on MHO-Esbjerg, a 39-m crew transfer vessel owned by MHO-Co.
Because the Z-Bridge lifts windfarm technicians from the deck of a vessel directly to the platform on a wind turbine it eliminates the climbing that is usually required when a technician transfers from a crew transfer vessel (CTV), increasing workability and improve the transfer time.
The Z-Bridge has been proposed for use on offshore wind vessels including new CTVs that have been ordered by MHO-Co.
The CTVs are designed for installation of the Z-bridge bring-to-work system on their forward deck.
The concept has also been proposed for service operation vessels, including OSD-IMT’s OSD-IMT9660 SOV, which was designed primarily for the US market.
