Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) Group has launched PortStats, a new data analytics platform
The PortStats service provides users access to fuel quality statistics in near real-time. In the primary application, users can benchmark and compare fuel quality data from any fuel supplier, from any of the 2,600 bunkering ports where VPS has performed fuel quality testing.
PortStats enables users to focus on the fuels that provide the best value for money, by optimising energy and quality. Users will be offered insights into the commercial value of marine fuels offered in the market. By knowing the calorific value of certain fuels in specific regions or from specific suppliers, users can optimise their decision-making.
Users will also obtain information on the off-spec fuels that were bunkered and reported in a certain port. Awareness of these off-spec products prior to procuring bunkering fuel can mitigate the risk of consuming potentially problematic marine fuels.
At Riviera’s webinar on VLSFOs, VPS’ group commercial & business development director Steve Bee advised buyers to be familiar with the fuel blends they procure and obtain certificates of quality. By anticipating quality issues, consumers of marine fuels can inform their fleet and crew and adapt their fuel treatment processes.
VPS said it plans to release several digital applications through this platform for other service lines, such as lube oil condition monitoring, transformer oil condition monitoring and separator performance monitoring. Since April, the company has also extended accessibility of its bunker alerts to BIMCO members who will now be permitted to access the information on BIMCO’s website.
Optimised ship operations and port activities will be discussed in depth during Riviera Maritime Media’s Vessel Optimisation Webinar Week, from 7 September. Use this link for more details and to register for these webinars
