Norden has deployed a cloud-based contracts management system on its fleet of 275 dry bulk cargo ships
It has implemented Maritech’s Sea/contracts document creation and management software on its Panamax, Supramax and Handysize dry cargo operations.
This simplifies documentation and tracking contracts between charterparties and other shipping reports.
Sea/contracts is used to produce and manage recaps, charter parties and other shipping documents. It is used by over 1,000 charterers, owners and brokers and now one of the world’s largest operators of bulkers.
Norden head of dry cargo operations Christian Vinther Christiansen said the volume of documentation its operations and contracts produce require different management “It was necessary to rethink our operations to ensure the systems and tools we have will support our overall digital strategy,” he said.
“We needed to ensure recaps and charter parties would be produced in a standardised and efficient way, with stronger controls around terms,” Mr Christiansen continued.
“With Sea/contracts in place, our business is heading towards improved efficiency, and the business has increased confidence around its governance of terms and minimisation of human error,” said Mr Christiansen.
“Sea/contracts provides us with lots of data around our charter parties which we otherwise would not have had,” he said.
There were other operational and business benefits from implementing Maritech’s software. “As we own the data, it can also be applied to our in-house advanced analytics helping us to achieve our business goals,” said Mr Christiansen.
Sea/contracts is currently one of eight interoperable modules on the Sea/platform that can be used either together or separately.
