Tekmar Energy is to provide 346 cable protection systems for the Hornsea Two offshore windfarm in the UK, which will be the world’s largest when completed in 2022
The contract awarded to the company is part of an ongoing framework agreement between developer Ørsted and Tekmar Energy.
Tekmar will provide its patented TekLink Generation 8 mechanical latch cable protection system for the windfarm. It will also provide 30 bell mouths for the array and export cables.
The company, which employs 115 people, will utilise its manufacturing facility in the northeast of England to produce the equipment.
Hornsea Two is the sister project to Hornsea One and will have 165 turbines with a combined capacity of nearly 1.4 GW.
Located in the North Sea, 89 km off the Yorkshire coast, Hornsea Two is due to be completed in 2022.
The cable protection project is Tekmar’s 76th in the offshore wind industry.
