Norwegian Greentech (formerly MMC Green Technology) has signed a mammoth deal to provide ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) to the 120-vessel Wilson shipping fleet
Norwegian Greentech will deliver BWTS for all ships owned by Wilson, one of the biggest cargo shipping companies in Europe in its segment, and the biggest in Norway by far. The fleet currently comprises 120 ships, the majority of which are owned by the shipping company itself.
“This is an incredibly important contract that we have worked on for a long time,” said Norwegian Greentech senior sales manager Jon Olav Kopperstad. “The contract will help to ensure a high level of activity in Norwegian Greentech for many years to come.” Mr Kopperstad also thanked Wilson’s technical team for their help in bringing this deal to the finishing line.
“This contract gives us a great starting point to further develop our business, both in terms of growth in returns and the number of employees,” said Norwegian Greentech sales & marketing director Børge Gjelseth.
Wilson general director Thorbjørn Dalsøren said a thorough assessment was made of both Norwegian and international companies before choosing its BWTS supplier.
“Norwegian Greentech was chosen because they have the whole package we have been looking for. Small space requirement, low energy consumption and service mindedness at a competitive price. A few years ago, we were sure we would have to look abroad to find that kind of service. It is pleasing that a Norwegian supplier won the contract, and that we can therefore help to secure jobs in the years ahead.”
