NYK and Northern Offshore Service (NOS), a subsidiary of Sweden-based Northern Offshore Group (NOG), have concluded a bareboat charter contract for a crew transfer vessel (CTV) to service offshore windfarms
The CTV, Energizer, is owned by NYK and will be chartered to NOS on a 10-year bareboat charter to transfer crews to offshore windfarms. The vessel will be operated by NOS.
NYK has also agreed to send engineers to NOS to participate in the operation and management of vessels, in preparation for the development of a CTV business in Japan.
In late 2019, NYK and NOG signed a MoU to explore the development of a CTV business.
NYK said, “Energizer is equipped with a large-capacity battery that can be recharged from a power generation facility and can be switched to hybrid mode to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.”
