Ocean Winds begins next phase of work for BC-Wind project

The survey vessel Ocean Marlin is operating along the route of the planned export cable for the BC-Wind offshore windfarm. It has been tasked to detect potential unexploded ordnance on the seabed.

Sulmara is responsible for the implementation of the campaign, which will use sonars and magnetometers to conduct a detailed search of the seabed.

The aim of the work is to ensure safety during the installation of transmission cables connecting the windfarm with the mainland.

Sulmara recently signed a three-year deal with Atlantic Offshore to charter Ocean Marlin and undertook a substantial refit of the emergency response rescue vessel, including installing survey equipment, and a subsea crane with active heave compensation.

Ocean Winds is the exclusive owner of the BC-Wind Project, holding sole rights to develop offshore windfarms across two adjacent sites.

Located in Poland’s exclusive economic zone in the Baltic, approximately 23 km offshore, the project sites have a potential capacity of up to 500 MW.
