Olympic’s second CSOV launched by Ulstein Verft

The launch took place on 21 August 2024, a month after the delivery of the first vessel in the series, Olympic Boreas.

Like Olympic Boreas, Olympic Notos has the Ulstein Twin X-Stern hullform.

A contract was signed for the construction of the vessels in 2022. The deal included the design, engineering and construction of two CSOVs at Ulstein Verft. The hulls of both vessels were built by the Crist yard in Poland.

The vessels have variable speed diesel-electric propulsion and large battery energy storage systems. Ulstein Power & Control was contracted to deliver a power and automation package for the vessels, including the battery pack.

They are based on the ULSTEIN SX222 design from Ulstein Design & Solutions, have a length of 90 m, beam of 19 m and accommodation for 126 people in 91 cabins, all of which have daylight.

“The hull shape and hybrid propulsion system will ensure high operational performance and seakeeping and a substantially reduced environmental footprint,” said Ulstein.
