Petrobras signs US$90M long-term charter for specialised AHTS

Brazilian OSV operator OceanPact has signed a four-year contract valued at some R$500M (US$90M) with Petrobras for the charter Rochedo de São Paulo, an anchor handling tug supply – tanker offloading (AHTS-TO) vessel.

Under the contract, the Brazilian-flagged AHTS-TO vessel will be responsible for the handling and maintenance of offloading hoses to support the safe and efficient transfer of oil between offshore production and storage units and shuttle tankers in Brazil.

Built by STX Vietnam Offshore in 2011 and under DNV class, Rochedo de São Paulo has an overall length of 75.0 m, beam of 17.4 m and draught of 6.6 m.

This latest contract follows a series of significant commercial long-term charters signed between OceanPact and Petrobras in 2025.

In August, OceanPact won four four-year contracts valued at a total of R$3.2Bn (US$575M) from the Brazilian oil major for the charter of remotely operated vehicle (ROV) support vessels. In September, Brazilian operator announced two more contracts, worth over R$700M (US$126M), to provide marine environmental monitoring services in areas under Petrobras’ responsibility.

OceanPact operates a fleet of 28 vessels – including ROV support vessels, oil spill response vessels, platform supply vessels, research vessels, multipurpose support vessels and AHTSs – and maintains a large inventory of offshore emergency response equipment in Latin America.
