An organisation has built an online training and learning platform to enable seafarers to improve their knowledge and competence
Ocean Technologies Group introduced its new maritime learning platform by combining the strengths of multiple training resources, unifying teaching units in Marlins, MTS, Seagull and Videotel all in one group.
This platform will be made available to shipowners, operators, managers and seafarers by the end of January 2021. It draws on more than 100 years of combined experience in providing quality training materials to over a million seafarers. This follows Ocean Technologies’ investment in software, content and re-engineering its user experience design.
The Ocean Learning Platform is an enterprise-level maritime learning management system designed to unite shore-based and onboard training initiatives, online and across mobile devices.
“The new Ocean Platform offers a compelling, engaging and comprehensive learning experience for the seafarer,” said Ocean Technologies chief product officer Caspar Atkinson. “For the first time these learning brands are available to the combined customer base on a single platform, delivered by a unified account team and streamlined contract.”
Ocean Learning Platform offers blended learning, assessment and competency management solutions. It combines e-learning with resources for hands-on training to improve knowledge, skills and behavioural development. There is a media-rich library of training programs, video and remote learning courses, with gamified content to further enhance crew engagement.
“Our new platform highlights the group’s commitment to move beyond the traditional management of training results for compliance purposes,” said Ocean Technologies chief executive Manish Singh, “to delivering transformational change in which the performance of seafarer and vessel can be measured and improved through greater data capture and data-driven decision making.”
Training and seafarer competence will be discussed during Riviera’s series of virtual conferences and Webinar Weeks during Q1 2021 - use this link to access more details and to register for these webinars
