POSH fleet tows FPSO from China to Angola
One of the latest FPSOs to be completed at a Chinese shipyard has been towed to Angola for Azule Energy to begin production in H2 2025
PACC Offshore Services Holdings (POSH) has towed a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) from China to Angola for a joint venture between two European oil majors.
Azule Energy is installing its Agogo FPSO, owned by Yinson Production, in Block 15/06 offshore Angola after it was towed more than 10,000 nautical miles by a fleet of anchor-handling towing vessels. POSH’s ocean towing fleet mobilised this 330-m, 300,000-gt FPSO through challenging sea and weather conditions to safely deliver it to its final offshore location.
POSH Eagle, POSH Hawk and POSH Osprey will remain on standby as the FPSO is hooked up to its mooring system and commissioned, ready to provide dynamic positioning assistance and contingency towing if required.
These services are important for Agogo’s safe and efficient integration into the field’s production infrastructure, which includes networks of risers, flowlines and umbilicals.
Azule Energy, a joint venture between BP and Eni, will use this FPSO on its Agogo Integrated West Hub project, to process and export oil and gas from the Agogo and Ndungu fields in the block.
Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard built the FPSO with a production capacity of 120,000 barrels of oil per day and carbon-reduction technologies, including a post-combustion carbon-capture system.
Agogo FPSO arrived on 16 May after its two-month voyage. “This milestone demonstrates our proven expertise in managing complex, longhaul towing operations across different regions,” said POSH head of offshore projects, Eric Ng. “We have well-equipped vessels and experienced crew to provide robust and dependable offshore logistics solutions.”
POSH’s fleet of 45 vessels, including offshore support vessels and harbour tugs, provide ocean towage, offshore construction and installation, subsea installations and maintenance, logistics support and port services.
