Cable manufacturer and installer Prysmian is to acquire ACSM, a Spain-based leader in solutions for submarine cable installation
ACSM undertakes subsea surveying, route planning and seabed preparation and has more than 20 years of experience in the offshore cable sector. The company specialises in services for the installation of submarine cables, such as route planning and post-installation surveys to guarantee the operation of cables. It also specialises in route clearance, boulder and debris clearance, the removal of unexploded devices; dredging to remove obstacles; and mattress installation. To carry out these activities, it has a suite of ROVs, seabed trenching machines and survey equipment, and three vessels.
The transaction is valued at €169M (US$200), subject to a customary adjustment mechanism based on ACSM’s net financial position, working capital and capex. It will be funded using cash available on Prysmian’s balance sheet.
The transaction is expected to close by February and will strengthen Prysmian’s capability in submarine cables. The company said integrating ACSM will broaden its range of solutions for energy and telecom customers and accelerate the vertical integration of its submarine activities.
ACSM, based in Vigo, Spain has a track record in 60 countries, more than 350 employees and has completed hundreds of subsea operations. Its revenues in 2024 were €62M and EBITDA was €22M. As of 31 December 2024, the net debt of ACSM was €14M.
Prysmian VEP transmission Raul Gil said, “Combining our capabilities with ACSM’s expertise and solutions will deliver optimised installation and burial processes that will set the standard for cost effectiveness, speed of installation and most robust protection. Submarine cables are strategic assets, and security is a differentiator for our customers. This acquisition further strengthens the range of solutions available to keep electricity and data safe under the sea.”
