Solverminds’ Tanker Fleet and Service Optimizer aims to replace manual scheduling with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to generate the demand forecast at the tanker discharge port
Solvermind’s Tanker Fleet and Service Optimizer’s primary objectives are to minimise cost, satisfy demand at the discharge port, and maximise the utilisation of time-chartered vessels by replacing manual tanker scheduling.
The aim is to analyse demand volatility, the pressure to maximise utilisation of time charter vessels, uncover incompatible oil grade loading, find vessels to spot charter when time charter vessels are fully utilised, and take into account disruptions due to weather, strikes, accidents or unrest.
In addition, allowance must be made for port limitations for each port, such as daylight arrival only, minimum depth, port window, allowed LOA, WL to manifold, allowed beam, length of wharf, load or discharge rates, and congestion delays.
All of this is the task of tanker operations teams, while meeting the demand of the consumption of oil cargo and ensuring stocks do not dip below minimum safety stock levels, and trying to attain zero waiting time. A complex function to undertake manually.
Solverminds, a global technology company known for its enterprise resource management solutions for liner and maritime organisations, consulting and data analytics, believes it has developed a solution that uses AI and ML, the Tanker Fleet and Service Optimizer.
Solverminds chief commercial officer Capt Vijay Minocha said, “Our in-depth domain expertise and advanced technology platforms mean that – not only do we know firsthand what the challenges are that these tanker operations personnel face – but we have the means and expertise to solve it.”
He added, “Oil majors’ challenges revolve around managing multiple vessels and oil grades while balancing sensitive variables. Many organisations perform this manually because there is no other way. Solverminds created the Tanker Fleet and Service Optimizer for this exact purpose.”
“The true hidden cost behind manual scheduling is the cost of operational inefficiency,” said Capt Minocha.
