The Canadian ship design and engineering firm said it had won contracts to provide designs for RAmparts 3200-W and TRAktor 3200-V tugs from shipyard PT Graha Trisaka Industri in Batam, Indonesia
In total, the statement said, "five tugs are to be built, scheduled for delivery in Q4, 2022".
The tugs will be built and operated by Taiwan Navigation Company Ltd, under a long-term charter contract for CPC Corporation, Taiwan’s state-owned energy, petroleum and natural gas company.
PT Graha Trisaka Industri is an affiliate of Singapore-based PaxOcean shipyard group. The statement from Robert Allan designs said that PaxOcean and Robert Allan Ltd have worked together on a number of projects including constructing a dual-fuel tug of RAmparts 2800-DF design for PSA Marine, Singapore.
Four additional Robert Allan Ltd-designed TRAktor 3200-V tugs currently slated for delivery to both tanker and bulk carrier operator Formosa Plastics and CPC Corporation are under construction at PT Graha Trisaka Industri shipyard, according to Robert Allan. All of the tugs will be designed and constructed to dual class, CR and ABS, for operation at the Taoyuan LNG Terminal in Taiwan.
