UK-based Rovco has launched a new hydrographic services division, Rovco Survey Solutions
The company will offer hydrographic, geophysical and site survey services across the offshore sector, and has pledged an investment of £9.5M (US$13.4M) in the new division, to be spent over the next 24 months.
The company said it will also expand its survey team, which has increased to more than 45 people as a result of recent projects.
Rovco Survey Solutions will offer a broad range of hydrographic services, from windfarm site and cable route surveys, spanning seabed mapping, geophysical and shallow geotechnical services, to hazard surveys and UXO target identification. This will go alongside broader offerings such as UXO disposal, marine habitat assessment surveys and archaeological investigations.
Utilising Vaarst’s SubSLAM 3D vision system, Rovco will also provide what it claims is the world’s fastest method for conducting precision accurate point-to-point measurements for subsea metrology and dimensional control.
“With experience in site investigations and detailed engineering surveys for both floating and fixed-bottom installations, we have already worked at more than 50% of the UK’s operational windfarms to date,” said Rovco.
“Our experienced team employs an end-to-end consultancy-led approach from initial project planning, through to data collection and reporting.
“Differentiating ourselves from other hydrographic providers, we can deliver faster, flexible response times and quicker mobilisation options while also using AI and autonomy technology where appropriate.”
Rovco managing director Simon Miller said, “The launch of Rovco Survey Solutions represents an important and significant milestone for our company. Our objective is to fuse the skills of our experienced surveyors and our inshore, nearshore and offshore operational know-how with cutting-edge technology and flexible approach. We continue to add to our hydrographic talent pool to grow our offering, enabling us to provide a single stop project-based solution for our customers.”
Mr Miller continued, “The European hydrographic survey market is expected to grow exponentially over the next few years, and as the growth of offshore wind continues, Rovco is well-placed to support our clients with their hydrographic survey and subsea robotics needs.”
